Emerging South African talent, Carletheia joins 5x Grammy Award-winning artist, PJ Morton on stage for the Cape Town leg of his “Cape Town To Cairo Tour”.
South African RnB and soul fans are in for a special treat as Cape Town’s Carletheia opens up for PJ Morton at the Baxter Theatre this Friday, 6 September 2024. This is not the first time the soulstress will share the stage with PJ Morton. At the beginning of this year, the two both performed at the Wave Theater, a fundraising event in support of Cape Town’s Tygerburg Hospital. Since then, Carletheia has been the new name on everyone’s lips as she now shares PJ Morton’s management team.
“I am beyond ecstatic and truly blessed to have the opportunity to open up for PJ Morton,” says Carletheia. “It’s rare to get a chance to open for an international artist, let alone a multi-Grammy award-winning one. I don’t take this opportunity lightly.”
As she prepares to step into the spotlight, Carletheia is most excited about the connection with the audience and the energy that comes with performing live. “I’m looking forward to performing to an amazing crowd, and PJ’s fans never disappoint,” she shares, hinting at the vibrant atmosphere that will fill the Baxter Theatre Centre.
I can attest to the vibrancy in the atmosphere as PJ Morton’s live concert in Cape Town last year left me gasping for more. The opening act was soul songbird, Sarah-Jane Thomas, who was such a fitting addition to the line-up, and this year we expect nothing less from Carletheia.
For her set, Carletheia promises an experience that will resonate deeply with the audience. “I hope to deliver an energetic and meaningful performance and make it a memorable experience,” she adds, ensuring that her performance will be one that lingers in the hearts of those who attend.
Shedding light on why Carletheia was selected as the opening act, Wade Jordan, the business manager for both PJ Morton and Carletheia reveals: “Most would assume because I manage both PJ Morton and Carletheia that she would automatically be a part of the show. Did that play a part? Sure. But PJ and I are very selective with the artists that take part in his shows,” Wade explains. “We first experienced Carletheia live at The Wave Theatre this past January, and she blew us away. Over the course of the past few months, I’ve gotten the opportunity to witness the amazing person she is, her work ethic, and her passion for building an impactful career that would make South Africans proud. That’s the major reason why Carletheia was asked to perform on September 6th at the Baxter Theatre.”
This announcement comes off the back of Carletheia’s newly released single, “I’ll Always Be There” written by PJ Morton and featuring the stunning vocals of Mpilwenhle (Top 3 Idols SA) and a voice that commands attention, Milly Milazi. “I’ll Always Be There” is currently enjoying radio airplay on stations across the country such as Good Hope FM, Gagasi FM, Power FM, Smile 90.4 FM, Rhodes Music Radio, and Bush Radio, just to highlight a few.
