Miss South Africa 2022 has been crowned!
In the finale of the competition which took place this evening, 13 August, the Top 10 finalists neared the famed title. Over the course of the evening, the numbers dwindled to the Top 5, Top 3 and then the Top 2, which saw Ndavi Nokeri and Lebogang Mahlangu standing proudly.
The winner was eventually deemed Ndavi Nokeri, who now glows under the title Miss South Africa, raising the flag that humble beginnings and determination paved her way to the crown.
Hailing from Tzaneen Limpopo, Nokeri studied in Pretoria where she obtained her BCom Investment Management degree. Currently, she’s based in the Mother City.
A Tsonga woman, Nokeri has shared previously that her place on the stage places homage to the people and women of her community: “Tsonga people have been underappreciated for so long, so I am proud to represent the women who have gone before me.”
Nokeri added that she hopes her journey would serve as a spark of inspiration for those from humble beginnings.
“I hope that my whole journey has been a symbol of me paying it forward. Not only by the community work, but that every girl and woman from humble beginnings will dream again, and that their hopes have been reignited because they see themselves represented.”
“I am proof that even someone from a small village and humble beginnings can achieve their ambitions and show that their dreams are valid.”
The Miss SA organisation shares that Nokeri is a “compassionate, courageous and relentlessly resilient woman who wants to be in the rooms where decisions are made about educational and skills development in South African schools with the hopes of sharing meaningful insights that will advance our nation.”
Congratulations Ndavi! We can’t wait to see how you shine alongside your crown.
