Helen Mirren is an enigma. She is known to break the barriers of social norms, especially in the often ageist entertainment industry that often invisibilises older women.
But at the 76th Annual Cannes Film Festival no one was going to miss Mirren on the red carpet as she took centre stage donning blue hair at 77.
Dame Helen Mirren is not only iconic at the way she approaches roles, she is also iconic in her own right.

Helen Mirren: the age-appropriate icon
Mirren has never been afraid of her age. Instead she has always embraced it, ever-so gracefully. Her signature silver grey hair is a known sight on the red carpet.
She is also known to embrace her natural wrinkles, without any surgical interventions – a huge deal for a mature woman in Hollywood.
At the 76th Cannes Film Festival she strutted her stuff for the screening of the film, Jeanne du Barry.
Mirren is not afraid to go bold
Back in 2019, she donned pink hair at the screening of “Les Plus Belles Annees D’Une Vie” during the 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival.
We love to see mature women embracing their natural beauty and in Mirren’s case she was the talk of the town and it was definitely #worthit.
