It’s not every day that an icon of Jennifer Hudson’s calibre gives a budding artist a shoutout, let alone one from a country thousands of kilometres away.
However, that’s exactly what happened to local artist Nozi, a South African songbird who’s just received the nod of approval for her cover performance of “Giving Myself”, Hudson’s acclaimed track.
Hudson, whose multi-talented chops have earned her the status of an EGOT winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) took to her Twitter account to shine the spotlight on Nozi.
“Ok, I’m a little late but yal need to hear this!” She began before giving both Idols SA and Nozi a shout-out.
“If I was there she would have caught a shoe! she did that !!!” Hudson fangirled.

Hudson didn’t stop at Twitter either and took to share her singing crush on Instagram too.
The compliment comes not only from a woman who’s made it to the top of the entertainment industry but also from someone who has had a career in judging and coaching blooming voices on The Voice.
Hudson’s audience, a whopping 4 million followers quickly took to sing Nozi’s praises, with many sharing that Hudson should get her on her own show – The Jennifer Hudson Show.
While Idols may not have determined its ultimate winner yet, it seems that Nozi has quickly become an international darling.
