Well, saying no to a Gatsby should be a crime… Jokes aside, Strauss shares an important message about showing up for the elderly. She continues:
“We need to do more to support our elderly and I’ve realized that more and more when I realize how few people are adequately prepared for growing older comfortably and with dignity.”
With an ever-growing elderly population in SA, support for the aged should be top of mind. There are marginalised, struggling communities who need support in providing a safety net for the elderly. Strauss continues:
“To be able to lend my voice to amplify the voices of those often marginalized is a privilege and responsibility I don’t take lightly.”
Yes to this energy!
Even if you aren’t in a position to support your elderly community financially, there are other things you can do to support the aged. Whether it’s volunteering to raise funds for the elderly, paying a visit to the to your local old age home, or donating pre-loved items to the aged in need, even the smallest acts of kindness go a long way.
