Actress Keke Palmer recently revealed a heartwarming secret hidden under her trenchcoat, and the internet has been abuzz since.
Taking to set a few rumours straight while hosting Saturday Night Live, the Akeelah and the Bee star confirmed that she is pregnant before showing off her baby bump and beaming with pure joy.
“There’s some rumours going around, people have been in my comments saying, ‘Keke’s having a baby, Keke’s pregnant,’ and I want to set the record straight — I am!” she gushed.
The child star’s news is extra touching because it serves as a kernel of hope for women with Polycystic Ovaries, which Keke has openly battled with.
PCOS, for many women, has meant infertility. It’s earmarked as the most common cause of infertility in women after all, despite being treatable for some. Keke took to Instagram during the pandemic to share her truth about living with PCOS, and inspired women around the world when she said:
“To all the people struggling with this please know you’re not alone and that you are still so fucking fine!” before adding, “we don’t have to accept this…I’m not afraid to show myself to the world and you shouldn’t be either,” about the hormonal impacts of PCOS like devastating acne.
As many Twitter users pointed out, the news of her pregnancy impacts Keke and those with PCOS differently. It’s an incredible win for women who have bared the anxiety of being infertile for ages.
As for the father, Keke’s beau is Darius Jackson, who works in the fitness and acting industry. And, with a surname like Jackson, we can’t help but muse that the couple might name their little one ‘True’ in honour of Keke’s character True Jackson on the hit Nickelodeon show.
