Kim Kardashian’s quest to becoming a legal eagle is looking promising after she defeated former Yale-degreed attorney Hillary Clinton in quick-fire legal trivia.
As seen on Hillary’s daughter, Chelsea Clinton’s documentary series Gutsy, the two went head-to-head answering legal questions related to the use of deadly force, extortion, robbery and self-defence.
Chelsea foreshadowed Kim’s advantage sharing that the Skims mogul had been hitting the books a lot more recently than Clinton.
However, the former First Lady who was twice named one of the United States’ most influential lawyers, failed to nail all the questions that many suspected would be a walk in the park for her. However, while Hillary stumbled, Kim was seen strolling and won the victory with a score of 11-4.
Kim Kardashian’s legal eagle journey
Kim’s legal interest took shape back in 2018. It’s well known that her late father, Robert Kardashian was a popular attorney who had represented high-profile people and rose to fame during the highly publicised OJ Simpson trial, which also spearheaded the Kardashian family’s publicity.
“Spending time with my father at his office definitely influenced me. Doing this work has been in my soul for years and I’m so proud that I’m now doing this work,” she expressed to Vogue Hong Kong.
In 2021, Kim passed the baby bar exam which in the state of California (and in line with her study plan) earmarked one of two bar exam tests. This is due to her not going the law school route but via an apprenticeship overseen and supervised by lawyers.
Kim’s shared that passing the exam was immensely trying, and took her four attempts.
The reality queen also noted that her legal journey was “close to impossible” and harder than the traditional route according to her advisors, given her specific study path.
Nonetheless, she embarked on the journey in a way that many have compared to that of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. But, just as Elle showed people never to judge a book by its hot pink cover, Kim’s doing the same in breaking her own archetype.
Kim’s also grown to prominence in the realm of criminal justice reform – hence her knowledge on the specific questions in the docu-series.
As Kim shared with Vogue Honk Kong, she has plans to open her own legal firm one day.
As for Hillary, the former top lawyer expressed to People that the loss was “heartbreaking.”
The documentary series Gutsy is set to bring more influential women to our screens, and viewers couldn’t expect less given that it’s based on the mother-daughter duo’s best-seller The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience.
