If you were perusing local celebrity news around this time in 2023, it’s likely that you would have seen the Kolisi family’s Christmas tree make headlines.
The family’s tree, last year, was not the grandest by any measure. In fact, its simple charm drew in comments across the nation. Rachel herself admitted that Christmas Trees are ‘not her strong point,’ adding that festive decorations are generally a lot of effort.

- It gets expensive quickly, money I’d rather spend on holiday, experience, food or gifts, and what happens with all the stuff when we move home?
- You have it up for a few weeks and packed in a garage for 11 months.
- I land up having to put it up and take it down.” the former Springbok ‘first lady’ wrote.
Rachel concluded her post in 2023 by adding that she would take commenters’ advice on board and jazz up her Christmas tree. In 2024, the mom of four has done just that.
Kolisi took to Instagram early on in December, sharing a glimpse of family’s Christmas tree for the festive period – an effort that’s “still in progress,” she writes.

Followers who recalled Rachel’s previous attempt at Christmas decorating flocked to the comments to acknowledge the ‘upgrade’.
Instagram user @ms_usta commented: “Look who has been practicing for a whole entire year do u remember the tree from last year that needed Jesus and the 12 disciples 😂😂”
In response, Rachel writes: “ms_usta 😂😂😂 was hoping this one was forgotten 😂”
