June is Pride Month around the world. Lucky for us in South Africa, we get to celebrate this monumental month twice – first in June for the global Pride Month that originated in the USA and then again in October for South African Pride.
Here are some brands that are embracing Pride Month this June.
Woolworths
Woolworths Pride campaign themed “we can all be allies”, focuses on how people who might not be part of the LGBTQIA+ community can support people who are.
Here’s how Woolworths describes an ally:
“An LGBTQIA+ ally is someone who supports, stands up for, respects, uplifts and celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether you’re educating yourself about the LGBTQIA+ community, are sharing content from LGBTQIA+ voices, are actively advocating for LGBTQIA+ rights, or are a good friend or colleague to an LGBTQIA+ person – there are lots of different ways to be an ally.”

Ugg
During June, Ugg is selling the Tazz Pridepop with a 1.5-inch platform sole that is stylish and comfortable. In the spirit of Pride, the Tazz Pridepop is bright and bold. But Ugg is not limiting their LGBTQIA+ efforts to Pride Month. Their year-round “Feel heard. Feel seen ” campaign aims to donate $260 000 to various organizations that foster safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community around the world.
