Remember Princess Leia’s white ceremonial dress in the final scene of 1977s Star Wars? Or perhaps the cloak and glasses worn by Harry Potter in The Chamber of Secrets? Well, you could add them to your wardrobe if you’ve got a few million to spend…
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Propstore, a company selling authentic movie props, will be auctioning off Princess Leia’s white gown, Harry Potter’s cloak and glasses, an evil clown doll featured in Poltergeist and a trove of 1,400 other movie props at a Los Angeles auction later this month.
Princess Leia’s dress is expected to fetch over $1m (that’s about R18 000 000) after being retrieved from an old London attic where the gown was folded up and tucked away since its big movie moment ’70s. The gown has now reportedly been extensively restored.
Harry Potter’s distressed cloak and glasses are expected to fetch $75 000 – $150 000 (R1 399 779 -R2 799 559) and the creepy Poltergeist doll a whopping $200,000 to $400,000 (R3 732 472 -R7 464 944).
