It’s 2023 and the world has changed so much. Remote work is now normal, bitcoin is on everyone’s lips and AI images have us confused about what’s real and what’s not.
We’re about to throw another hat into that ring with the world’s first Nail Painting Robot by Clockwork.

What makes robot manicures different?
For one, they are efficient. Within just 10 minutes, you can have a gel manicure done and dusted for just $10 (or +-R185) that’s actually cheaper than my current manicure. Clockwork markets it as “10 nails. 10 mins. 10 bucks.” Genius!
The fact that it’s 10 minutes per mani, gives the robot a minute per nail, making for an express mani, or as Clockwork puts it, a “minicure”. This means that the robot doesn’t remove gel, cut, or file nails, so it’s best to go with bare nails.
How does the nail painting robot work?
The way that people have described the experience is that it’s like using a printer. You choose your colour cartridge and insert it into the robot.
Then, you place your hand into the machine, for the robot to scan the shape and size of your nail. You then have to give a voice command and say, ”Ready”. The robot arms then come down and give your nails a quick coating.

Currently, Clockwork has a salon in San Francisco, and some Target stores in California, Texas, and Minnesota and recently they’ve set up shop at JFK. I honestly can’t think of anything better than having a robot giving me a mani during layover.
