The search for the next Miss South Africa has begun as the nation gets excited to welcome another dynamic woman to represent the country on the international stage. Current Miss South Africa, Ndavi Nokeri, will soon pass on her crown to 2023’s Miss SA.
There have been a few important changes in the rules for entering the pageant from this year onwards, making the application process more inclusive and simpler. Entrees for Miss SA 2023 opened on 28 April and will close on 5 May.
Let’s get into everything you should know:
The rules have changed
Married women and those with children will now be allowed to enter the competition for the first time in Miss SA history. The age limit has also been modified, allowing applicants to turn 30 within their year of reign.
Additionally, there are no height or weight specifications or requirements, making the entry process as easy and more inclusive than years before.
CEO Stephanie Weil comments:
“We are delighted to welcome all women who are ready to step onto our leadership platform and be the next ambassador for South Africa. Showcasing the multi-diverse nature of all of this will be at the core of the competition. Miss South Africa is no longer just a one-night pageant – viewers are going to get to know the finalists during the television show.”

Miss SA’s new TV series will offer an inside look
This year’s competition will also include the exciting new addition of a seven-part reality TV series called Crown Chasers.
For the first time, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Miss South Africa competition. In the reality show which will be aired weekly television, finalists will be put face-to-face with real-life scenarios, navigating challenges based on the four pillars of Miss South Africa: duty, championship, empowerment, and beauty. A judging panel will select a challenge winner each week.
