Nando’s is known and loved for its spicy flair, and now the brand has taken its heat to the fashion world.
Dubbed ‘Extra Hot’ the Portuguese affair has debuted a range set to include T-shirts, sweatshirts, bucket hats and socks. However, this isn’t any ordinary ‘merch launch.
Nando’s has added its extra spice to the mix in that items change colour based on the wearer’s body temperature in ranges “medium”, “plainish” and “extra hot” using thermochromic tech. So, for those who have become masters at hiding how much the heat really impacts them, the jig is definitely up.
While most are fired up (or at least intrigued) by the announcement, South Africans shake their heads. Despite being founded in SA almost 40 years ago, the launch isn’t available to the country that put Nando’s on the map. This one’s for British and Irish foodie fashion fans.
Although Nando’s may not be in SA’s good books when it comes to food chain fashion options (an oddly specific niche, but still) the local sizzlers have at least gotten another international rollout – the plant-based ‘Great Pretender’ meal options that see ‘fake meat’ done Nando’s style.
Better than clothes? Well, that depends on how much you wanted to see your outfit change colours. At least we’ll always have Nando’s endless cheeky tweets to keep us warm with laughter.
