Nigella Lawson may be one of the most polished and youthful looking celebrities out there, but the TV chef has revealed that she turns to some rather strange measures when it comes to her beauty regime.
The 58-year-old admitted at a recent Q&A that rather than opting for a flannel or even a brush, she uses something a bit more unorthodox to scrub her body.
Nigella confessed that she uses dish washing gloves to exfoliate – explaining that she specifically uses the ones with silicone springs on them to do so, similar to these Magic Silicone Scrubber Rubber Cleaning Gloves, from R382,82
She told the audience, “I am the sucker who buys things. I recently bought some dish washing gloves with silicone bits on the palm for scrubbing. I exfoliate (my face) with them. I like them.”
It may not be what we would use – but it certainly looks like it’s working for Nigella!
The gloves often sell for just under R100 (from approximately £5) too, meaning if we were brave enough to try them, they’d definitely be a more affordable method of keeping our skin smooth and supple.
However, a cosmetic doctor, Vincent Wong, has advised that the unusual method could actually be damaging to Nigella’s body. He told The Sun,“The texture of the gloves are quite rough and it can be really damaging to over stress your skin. She’s doing the complete opposite to helping her skin.”
