Olivia Newton-John, the actress, singer and songwriter that stole generations’ hearts for many reasons, especially her role in Grease, has passed away at 73-years-old.
Her husband, John Easterling, confirmed the news on social media, sharing that the Dame passed away “peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California” on the morning of 8 August, “surrounded by family and friends.”
Although the exact reason for Newton’s passing hasn’t been detailed, Easterling added that “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer.”
Newton-John was a Golden Globe-nominated actress, a best-selling artist, the iconic Sandy Olsson and an activist for the environment and animals.
Tributes have poured in for Newton-John from across the world, with one of the most touching coming from John Travolta.
“My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever. Your Danny, your John.”
