Prince Harry Has Ditched His Royal Surname In Official Documents

This year has been a bit of a strange one for the British royal family. In January, Harry and Meghan announced that they would be ‘stepping back‘ from their royal duties. Naturally, the whole family has been a bit of a kerfuffle since then – to no one’s surprise. Harry and Meghan have since reportedly relocated to California. They’ve started charting their own path, independent of the monarchy. Now, Prince Harry seems to have left his royal surname in the past too.

Prince Harry forges a new life

Harry and Meghan’s life choice kicked up quite a fuss – with it being termed #Megxit – and the fuss hasn’t quite ended yet, it seems. Most recently, Prince Harry has distanced himself further from the royal life by ditching his royal surname on official documents registering he and Meghan’s new eco-friendly travel firm, Travalyst.

When registering the company, which reportedly has “ambition to change the impact of travel, for good”, the Duke of Sussex omitted his HRH (Her Royal Highness) title and his royal surname Mountbatten-Windsor from the official papers. Instead, he opted for Prince Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex, according to the Daily Mail.

“Just Harry” 

Not using his HRH title comes as a result of Prince Harry’s deal with Her Majesty the Queen that he would no longer use the royal name after stepping away from the family. Meanwhile, his decision not to include Mountbatten-Windsor may also have something to do with the fact his moniker is already quite a mouthful.

Prince Harry made it clear that he was keen to gain some normality in regards to his name when he attended a last royal engagement in Edinburgh. He is said to have asked hosts to introduce him as “just Harry” as he took to the stage to make his speech at the event

“He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry. So ladies and gentlemen, please give a big, warm, Scottish welcome to Harry,” Ayesha Hazarika told the audience before the Prince made an appearance.

Whatever the future holds, we wish “just Harry” and Meghan tremendous luck for this new chapter in their life.
