By now, we should all know the positive impact that sustainable fashion has on our pockets, wardrobe and most importantly, the planet. One avenue of sustainable fashion on every eco-friendly fashion diva’s radar is rental fashion.
The aim of the rental fashion market is to prolong the lifecycle of materials, reduce material waste, and increase the value of timeless garments.

The concept is pretty simple. You rent your look instead of buying it. By doing so, you’re cutting back on material waste and spending less. Plus, you get to wear that timeless designer garment you’ve always had your eye on at a steal of the price.
Rental fashion brands such as Style Rotate and Onrotate in SA are at the forefront of sustainable fashion locally, paving the way towards an environmentally aware, evolved fashion community. However, rental fashion isn’t just a local trend. The movement has taken root globally, with thousands of fashion-forward eco-conscious consumers in its ranks.
And it just recently gained another to its forces, with the one and only Dame Helen Mirren listing two of her red carpet looks as ‘available to rent’ on a sustainable fashion platform called By Rotation.
