One of the latest trends to take TikTok by storm isn’t a beauty hack or a dance, but a workout: the 12-3-30 workout. Turns out it could be our new favourite way to break a sweat! Let’s dive in.
Where did it come from?
The 12-3-30 workout was actually developed back in 2019 by American actress and social media personality Lauren Giraldo. ‘I was out of shape and didn’t have a great relationship with fitness at the time,’ Lauren recently shared in an interview with Runner’s World. ‘I found a lot of the fitness advice and workouts online were extremely overwhelming and impossible to stick with long term.’ So Lauren decided to try her own thing and the 12-3-30 workout was born.
How do you do it?
It’s a simple workout that is approachable for almost anyone and everyone. Probably why it has become such a great success! You can be any age. You can be at any fitness level. There’s no complicated regimens to figure out. No weird exercises to remember. All you do is set the treadmill to an incline of 12, a speed of 3 and walk like this for 30min. That’s it: the 12-3-30 workout!
Why do we love it?
“I found 12 incline, 3 speed, for 30 minutes on a treadmill was easy enough for me to do frequently but still challenging enough for me to feel accomplished after,” Lauren explained. “It was what got me in the gym every day and set the foundation for my fitness and health journey.” As we curl out of our Winter sweatpants and try get our Summer sweat on, the 12-3-30 workout is a great gym routine to start with. Those who try it have loved that it got them back into working out. As you build fitness you can always adjust the workout to best meet your need and suit your body too. Perhaps increase the speed, play with the incline or walk for longer. Did we just find the perfect workout?!
