Mike White, the brain behind the hit HBO series The White Lotus, was spotted out and about in Thailand before multiple sources close to the production crew confirmed that the next season of the show will be set in Thailand.
As the first two seasons of the show were shot in the Four Seasons hotels in Hawaii and Italy, it’s likely that season 3 will find its home at one of the hotel giant’s locations in Thailand. Four Seasons in Thailand are located in Bangkok city, the mountainous Chiang Mai, Koh Samui beaches and the Golden Triangle jungles.
In previous interviews after season two of The White Lotus had wrapped up, Mike White hinted that the third season of the hit series would follow the theme of death, Eastern religion and spirituality, and would likely take place somewhere in Asia.
“The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex…I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
Although production for the next season has yet to commence White has been scoping around Thailand for sites. Every season of the show so far has presented an all-new cast (apart from our leading lady, Jennifer Coolidge, who made appearances in both seasons) so it’s safe to assume that the next season will introduce a brand new cast.
It’s only a matter of time before we’ve got to book our trips for a third visit to The White Lotus. Who knows what the next season has in store…
