In an announcement that’s sending waves across the entertainment and fashion industries, Tyla will join musical legend Cher and Thai rapper Lalisa as part of an all-female lineup for the highly anticipated 2024 show.
The event will take place in Brooklyn, New York, this October, marking Victoria’s Secret’s return to the runway after a six-year break. According to Rolling Stone, Victoria’s Secret highlighted Tyla’s “vibrant personality” and her “innovative take on pop and R&B” as reasons for selecting the rising star to perform.
Tyla, who has rapidly become a global icon with her distinctive sound and style, was thrilled by the news. She expressed her excitement and nostalgia for the show, which captivated her as a young girl. She told Rolling Stone:
“Growing up, I was captivated by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – the stunning outfits, iconic wings, and charismatic models …Now, I’m thrilled to be performing on this nostalgic and legendary stage. What’s even more exciting is the celebration of diversity, showcasing a broader range of beauty, which makes this moment truly special.”
Tyla’s performance on the prestigious stage follows her meteoric rise in the music industry. Just 22 years old, the “Water” hitmaker has already made history as the first South African artist to win an MTV Video Music Award.
Her track record of success includes five international and five local awards in 2024 alone, including accolades from the Grammys, BET Awards, and Billboard’s Global Force Award. She is also the youngest African artist to win a Grammy, solidifying her place among the world’s most influential musicians.
Beyond music, Tyla has become a style icon, known for her trendsetting fashion sense, which earned her the title of Most Stylish Performing Artist at the South African Style Awards in 2024.
