Bathrooms don’t have to be boring, they need to be practical, but they can be aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Many are under the impression that a stylish bathroom will need to cost an arm and a leg, but with a simple lick of paint or added accessories, you can update your bathroom to be more stylish.
Here are some tips by Dulux Colour Expert, Palesa Ramaisa.

Instead of tiles, opt for paint
Styles of tiles tend to become outdated, while paints might simply need new accessories to breathe new life into them.
“When it comes to painting a bathroom, wall preparation such as damp proofing is essential. Once you have the basics in place it is always best to use paint that is resistant to moisture and mould such as Dulux Bathroom+ paint that is designed with steam-resistant technology and a wipeable finish,” adds Ramaisa.

2. Add greenery
Houseplants can bring an extra layer of life, freshness and liveliness into your bathroom.
“Bring the outside in with wooden accessories and potted plants. Plants in the bathroom act as natural air purifiers, filtering out harmful toxins and releasing fresh oxygen into the air. Look for plants that can thrive in a moist, humid, and steamy environment. Add fresh and fluffy white towels to the mix to elevate the look and feel of your bathroom and create a clean and luxurious atmosphere in your oasis”, comments Ramaisa.
3. Go big and bold
Dark shades make a space seem more moody and add an extra layer of drama.
“Dark colours create a sense of depth and drama and can infuse your bathroom with contrast and elegance. Dark colours like Black Mica create a sense of comfort, emphasise the space and are a fantastic backdrop on which to showcase accessories and textures. Add personality with elements such as stone, ceramic tiles, exposed bricks and natural fabrics in the form of laundry baskets’’, adds Ramaisa.
