Police in Derbyshire UK are investigating after a decorative planter urn and flowers were stolen from the grave of late fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood, who passed away in December last year at 81.
The decorative urn and flowers were stolen from the icon’s grave in the village of Tintwistle in Derbyshire, where Westwood was born and laid to rest.
Westwood grew up in the small village and left in 1958 when she moved to London.
In February earlier this year, a memorial was held for Westwood at Southwark Cathedral in London and she was laid to rest in a private family funeral in Tintwistle.
According to reports, the theft is thought to have taken place between midnight on 21 May and midday on 28 May.
Florist Anja Norris, the florist who was hired by the late designer’s family in 2022 to tend to her grave, tells the BBC:
“I can’t get my head around it, the grave is very popular with people and those in the village like to visit it to pay their respects,” she said.
“It’s just so disrespectful, I hope they bring it back,”
Officers have appealed for witnesses to the crime. This is a developing story.
