Lira recently attended the RMB Starlight Classics as a guest only to later find herself singing on stage in a trio with opera singers Sunnyboy Vincent Dladla and Mabane Cecilia Rangwanasha.
In a video shared by the Feel Good hitmaker, event MC Katlego Maboe walked with her to the stage after picking her from the audience. An excited audience started screaming calling out Lira’s name. Opera singer Mabane then asked the multi-award-winning singer who suffered a stroke in Germany last year if they could re-create a singing moment they had on stage in Cape Town.
Still not in her full speech capacity, Lira responded:
“I had a stroke last year and I’ve been learning to speak, I am in no way ready to sing but I am willing to try.”
She then joined the two opera singers forming a trio singing an old time classic Ntyilo-Ntyilo, taking the crowd into a frenzy.
Sharing the post of her performance, Lira’s caption read:
“This was so surreal. I was keen to try – but I did it 🥰👌🏾. I had the awesome voices of @sunnyboy. dladla and @masabane_cecilia_rangwanasha who supported me. There’s still a long way to go before I can sing on my own, let alone sing at a full concert- but this a very positive step in my recovery. I’ve been singing to loosen up my tongue, it has helped to speak better, and I do it as part of my recovery.”
