This Barbie knows sign language!
Just when you thought Margot Robbie couldn’t get any cooler, she does.
A video of the Barbie star, who has also played lead roles in films in I, Tonya, Suicide Squad, and The Wolf of Wall Street resurfaced on the internet a year after it was posted in 2022, Robbie attended the premiere of the film, Amsterdam.
The video shows Margot surprising a deaf fan waiting to greet her outside of the premiere by effortlessly communicating with him in sign language.
In the video, Margot makes her way down the red carpet, signing autographs for fans waiting to greet her at the barricades when one catches her attention with a gesture in sign. Margot then exclaims “I know it!” before setting her pen and paper aside and signing to the deaf fan who caught her eye.
Margot signs the phrase “nice to meet you” before stopping to take a picture with the fan.

Commenters of the video note that the sign language Margot uses is not American, but may be British or Australian – where Margot is from. Robbie has never previously mentioned her signing skills, catching her fan and viewers of the video by surprise.
After the fact, Margot’s fan took to X (formerly known as Twitter) posting a picture posing with Robbie and a video of the two chatting in sign.

This Barbie is full of surprises. The fact that Margot knows sign language, or at least enough to greet fans, is testament to the fact that she’s all for inclusivity, and we’re here for that.
