It’s that weird time of the year right before spring kicks in when the sun is rearing its head, but the grounds remain damp. If you’re like me and get excited at the slightest sighting of the sun, you probably want to pick up your hiking shoes and get out into nature. After the roughest winter in Cape Town, I will jump at any opportunity to get out again!
In an attempt to get moving surrounded by the sounds of nature, leaves blowing in the wind and birds chirping, my excitement was short-lived and quickly dampened by the clammy grounds waiting for me on the slopes of Cape Town.
In a bid to keep the flame of my active lifestyle aspirations alive, I’ve gone in search of the perfect hiking shoe that will be durable enough to withstand the post-storm weather.
Hiking boots
Personally, I prefer boots to shoes. After spraining my ankle, I have a bit of a weak ankle and boots offer a certain level of support that shoes don’t.

Hiking shoes
Although I prefer boots, hiking shoes offers a level of flexibility that boots don’t. Some people might find that boots are quite restricting to their movement, which some hikers don’t prefer. If that is you, then hiking shoes might be a better option.
