Some brands are more than just brands. They’re personality traits, and in Cape Town, okja is exactly that.
There are few lactose-intolerant, vegan or health-conscious people in the Cape who haven’t tried their revolutionary Oat M*lk. There are even fewer who haven’t been at least curious about the product when stumbling upon the quirky minimalist packaging, wondering “what is this cute conversational carton?”
Okja launched in 2019 by serial founders Rui Esteves and David Chait who believed that it wasn’t enough to just create delicious plant-based milk, but an entire community of conscious coffee lovers.
In recent news, okja has opened the doors to its own store on Kloof Street right by the iconic Yours Truly.
Kloof Street with its constant buzz of all things trendy, couldn’t have been a better choice for another okja home in addition to the Camps Bay favourite.
Set to be a hotspot for all contemporary coffee connoisseurs and delicious pastry chasers, this is one spot that anyone venturing Kloof Street side won’t want to miss out on.
Why their coffee might be your next healthy relationship
Beyond the Oat M*lk which uses Italian oats (16%), cold-pressed Sunflower seed oil and sea salt, their coffee is also Rainforest Alliance Certified.
Okja shares that this means their coffee meets “rigorous environmental and social standards. From fighting deforestation and climate change to building economic opportunities and better working conditions for rural people, the Rainforest Alliance is working hard to help solve these challenges.”
Healthy for the planet and for your body? It’s an obvious win-win.
And, if their vegan hazelnut chocolate spread is on the menu, we can guarantee that everyone with a healthy sweet tooth will be making a trek to the new Oat M*lk watering hole – we know we are.
