Run, don’t walk! Watch Zoë Brown, a young lady from Rondebosch as she runs her first marathon – The Cape Town Marathon taking place on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of October 2022.
Partnering with Adidas, Zoë and 10 other ladies unite together on this journey and we are cheering them on from the sidelines.
Many of you know the lovely Zoë by her friendly face as a TV presenter on the Expresso Show on SABC 3 and her captivating voice on the radio as a presenter for The Flash Drive on KFM 94.5.
She says: “this is what I do, not who I am.”
Here is what else you need to know about this multi-faceted young lady.
About Zoë
She describes herself as an “ordinary girl with an extraordinary job” and made a decision to challenge herself to train and run a marathon. With a very busy schedule, this decision was made to prove that no matter how busy she is, she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to. She shares her inspiring story, and her personal reason for wanting to conquer their first marathon.
The partnership with Adidas has a campaign behind it – Beyond my Impossible. The campaign not only aims to empower ladies but also to encourage ladies to lean on the sport of running for the purpose of bringing positive change into their lives.
Zoë’s why!
If you follow Zoë on social media, you will know that health and wellness are important to her. We are inspired by her ongoing fitness journey that she has been very open about.
She shares: “her marathon training journey has instilled accountability in herself to her training and she is enjoying learning to make time for herself.”
A marathon of any sort requires hard work, commitment, motivation, and consistency in training. Despite her crazy busy schedule, she is putting in the hard work ahead of the marathon by taking it one day at a time, kilometer by kilometer, to avoid being overwhelmed. And with a goal in mind to complete the marathon, a sense of community and comradery has been established, ensuring that the journey has been enjoyable despite the challenge.
Brown follows the life quote of ‘if something scares you, you should say yes to it and yes the marathon scares her but in no shape, or form has she wanted to limit herself in exploring what she is capable of.
This is a life lesson to everyone reading this, you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it.
The platform Zoë has created is to inspire others despite the fear of running alone or in the dark, especially after the horror stories we hear about. There is always a community to join according to style, pace, time, or location to reach your goals.
She recently launched her own brand of activewear labeled Zoe Brown Apparel which is locally manufactured in Cape Town.
You can get to know Zoë in a 90-second individual video as she chats a bit more about what this marathon means to her.
To Zoë, the other 10 ladies and all taking part in the marathon, Woman and Home wishes you all the best.
